215/62 Carlisle - 1881 - draft Prosecution Brief for case against John O'Keefe, a soldier from Limerick garrisoned at Carlisle Castle who was charged with the theft of a watch from David Corry (David Corrie) of Fisher Street, Carlisle. Full details given about how the alleged theft took place and how the watch came to be in the hands of Jas. Hannagan (Limerick). Hannagan was O'Keefe's aunt's husband and he was arrested in Limerick by Patrick McCormick (Royal Irish Constabulary) for possession of the watch. 4 sheets watermarked paper written 2½ sides - deletions and amendments. £20

215/72 Holme Cultram (probably now Abbeytown) and Hards - 1905 - papers relating to a case before Wigton Petty Sessions in which Peter Carruthers and Hugh Hutton (Holme Cultram) alleged a case of Assault & Battery by William Brough (Hards). Includes copies of the 2 summons by Carruthers & Hutton alleging Assault & Battery. On the reverse of 1 is a pencil note summarizing the evidence given by Hutton about the events that occurred when Brough called at his Public House. On the reverse of the other is a note that Mrs Hutton supported her husband's evidence. The 3rd document contains Brough's statement, which details an ongoing dispute he had with Peter Carruthers' son Robert Carruthers, and his version of the events on the evening in question. 3 sheets paper with some dusting & slight fraying to edges.
