Complete 'stampless' letter on watermarked paper, with good clean strikes for Exeter & Torquay.   £10

67/82 Plymouth - 1825 - Letter noted 'Late W Rawles affairs' from Benj. H Lynes (Liskeard). The address panel has been cut out, so the addressee is not known. The letter refers to land sold to Mr Couche, a visit by Lynes to Mr Rawle & his family at Plymouth, to Mrs Rawle & her family here (Liskeard), and to 3 children Francis, Anne & Harriett, and sends compliments to Mr & Mrs Wm Ward.

Parchment signed / sealed by Pulsford, with signature of William Avery (Mayor) & Common Seal of Incorporation of Barnstaple (damaged). Details of location of property & previous occupants including Elizabeth Pasmore (widow).  Parchment 'mark' / seal of William Pasmore, witnessed on reverse by Robt Dunn & James Dunn, also noted that William Pasmore jun was still alive in 1871. 105/15 Buckland Dynham and Bickenbridge, Ilfracombe - 1848 - Covenant between George Symonds (Georgeham) - lands in Buckland - & Charles Symonds (Ilfracombe) - lands at Bickenbridge, to produce Title Deeds held by George  for all. Refers to agreement of 1800 when Richard Knill (Braunton) [wife Grace nee Peard] transferred all the lands to his son Richard.  Large sheet paper with embossed Duty stamps. Several splits in folds with very slight loss of text. Signed / sealed by George Symonds, witnessed on reverse by Cael? C Palmer (solr Barnstaple). 130/32 Exeter, St David  - 1806 - Conveyance of property by Pendar & Thomas Willcock to Edward Gattey as trustee for Pendar Willcock. Refers to Will of Thomas Willcock (their father) who left properties to them as tenants in common, with Joseph Burrow as trustee, & agreement between the brothers re division of properties. 4 large sheets parchment with a number of small holes / tears in folds - particularly to outer sheet with slight loss of text, some fading in folds. Decorative initial letter incorporating Royal Coat of Arms. Signed / sealed by Pendar & Thomas Willcock with witness signatures on reverse of Zachary Turner & Henry Tarbart.  £58

130/40 Loddiswell & Stokenham - 1906 - Copy of Sale & Release of Annuities secured on Lands by Eliza Jane Hallett, widow (Paignton) & Edward Huxham (Newton Ferrers) to William Henry Huxham (Hareham Road, Sussex).  Samuel Huxham (Dartmouth) died 1895 leaving annuities to his sister Eliza & nephew Edward charged upon his Estates. William Henry Huxham became entitled to the Estates - Blackwell Parks & Coombe Parks - and agreed to purchase the annuities. Thomas Hallett was an Executor.

Details lands, monies owed by Henry Marker (Wellington, Somerset) & Thomas Roach (Doddiston Lesliegh) also furniture & household goods which will be transferred to James if marriage takes place.
Parchment - signed & sealed by Mary Maynard & James Sweet.  Rodent damage to 1 corner and edge when folded. (When unfolded, affects the whole of 1 vertical fold, with small loss of text).   £42

90/1 Ottery St Mary - 1815 - Bond given in support of Marriage Settlement by Robert Warren (O St M) to John Venn (Payhembury).  Sheet watermarked paper folded in 2. Page 1 is part pre-printed with manuscript details - refers to M S which John & his bother Clement Venn, Robert & son William Warren & daughter Gwen are party.  Signed / sealed by Robt Warren, witnessed by (Grace?) Warren & Thos Glanvill(e). Pages 2 & 3 confirm that M S conditions were fulfilled & bond discharged, includes some details of M S & Robert's Will, dates of his death & marriage of John & Gwen. Signed by John Venn witnessed by Thos Glanvill(e). N B. The bottom of page 1/2 has been torn off & repaired with (archive?) tape.  £42

162/1 Parracombe - 1800 - Sale of property by Miss Mary Burgess (Northam) &  Miss Elizabeth Burgess (Exeter) to Humphrey Barwick (Parracombe).  Refers to 1745 agreement by which John Burgess acquired it from Thomas Challacombe. John's eldest son was Philip Burgess, his son William was Mary & Elizabeths' father. Gives details of property, rights of common, turf, heath & furze. Large sheet parchment, signed / sealed by Mary & Elizabeth, signed again on reverse witnessed by R E Calvert, Francis James, Jas Hugh Balley,  Jno Perrin.  £56

130/38 Pinhoe - 1898 - Mortgage of properties - Fairview Terrace - by Thomas George Coles (Pinhoe) to Albert Edward Dunn & Charles Baker (both Solicitors in Exeter). Large sheet of parchment folded in 2 together with a location plan drawn on linen (sewn within the parchment to form a booklet) some dusting, creasing & slight damp staining.  The plan is noted in pencil with the names of subsequent purchasers of the various properties (including Stevenson, Bettenson, Anson, Hill, Short). Signed / sealed by Coles witnessed by A M Alford (Articled Clerk, Exeter). The reverse is noted with the dates of disposal & name of purchaser of some plots & houses - Eva Eliza Bowen Gisge,  Lydia Anna Wreford,  George Murch, Aaron Dufty,  Edward Evans,  Albert Anthony Coulman,  Mary Jessie Endacott, Ellen Sanders. In 1899, Elizabeth Coles was named as party to the agreements.  £44

This document is very badly damp damaged and most of the text is virtually illegible. It has a clear signature & seal of  Thomas George Coles & witness signature of A Martin Alford (Solicitor, Exeter).  £3

162/10 Prixford (Prixworthy), Marwood - 1814 - Lease for a year (the 1st part of Lease & Release for sale of Property & Land) by John Derby (Pilton, late Marwood) to Richard Crang (Challacombe Rawleigh).  Includes name of field & refers to indenture of 1719 by which property was transferred from Arthur Chichester & son to George Ley. Exeter) - 1896 - Easement for water drain granted by the Devon County Athletic Ground Company Ltd to the Urban District Council of St Thomas the Apostle, Devon.  Large sheet of parchment folded in 2 - written on 1½ sides. On the third page is a colour wash location plan showing the land adjacent to Regent Street, water course & stoneware culvert with sand tanks. The document is badly water-stained in folds, resulting in some tears, fading & loss of text. Signed by Cecil R M Clapp (Solicitor, clerk to the Council).  £23

130/36 Taunton - 1867 - Promissory note given by Jas. Hewitt to John Godfree (both Taunton) to repay loan + interest. Small slip of blue paper approx 3¾"x 9½" with embossed duty stamp - signed by Hewitt.  On reverse are details of 3 interest payments - 1871, 1874, 1877 each signed J G Godfree.  £6

105/10 Tiverton - 1772 - Arbitration Award in a dispute between Mary Anderdon, [(Henlade, Rushton) Administratrix of John's estate] and Thomas Knight (Loades, Kingston) & his brother William Knight (Tiverton). 84/34 St Mary Church, Torquay - 1896 - Sale of property by trustees of Settlements of the Baron Haldon (family name Palk) to Frederick Crocker (Torquay).
12 page printed parchment booklet with manuscript insertions. Includes details of various Haldon family events, settlements and arrangements establishing title to the property. Incorporates a colour wash plan and schedule of lands sold to Crocker. A memorandum on the cover sheet notes various disposals by Crocker between 1920 - 1931. Signed & sealed Fred. J Crocker  £34
