135/9 Chirbury - 1710 - Lease of Mansion House & grounds at Little Durnford, Wilts by exors / trustees [Robert Hyde (Halth), John Gauntlett (Netherhampton) & Thomas Chaffin (Chettle, Dorset)]of late John Young (Little Durnford), who previously occupied it - to Rt Hon Henry Lord Herbert of Cherbury (Chirbury, Salop.). Edward Young party to agreement. Large sheet parchment with very decorative 1st 2 words incorporating Royal Coat of Arms. Signed / sealed 4 wax seals, each with a different impression - Robt. 135/11 Downes alias Dowles - 1742 - Counterpart of Assignment of Mortgage granted to late Henry Lord Herbert Baron of Chirbury (Chirbury, Salop.) by Richard Knight (Bringewood, Herefordsh) to Elizabeth Bateman (New bond St., Middx). Francis Walter the younger (Forny Hall, Salop) party to agreement as devisee & an executor. Refers to various mortgages over a period of more than 30 years including mortgage by Herbert to Thomas Baker (Ombersley, Worcs) 1709, assignment & advance by Samuel Slade (Bewdley, Worcs.) 1712, mortgage of further property to Charles Bowles (Southwark, Surrey) 1710, subsequent assignment of those premises to Slade as additional security. Assignment of those mortgages in 1725 by Catherine Slade, Joanna & John Baker (all Waresley, Hartlebury, Worcs) & Alice & George Nash (Martley, Worcs) [Slade's widow & daughters] to Richard Knight. Several more advances by Knight. 7 large parchment sheets with ornate 1st 2 words incorporating Royal Coat of Arms. Small tear in 1 fold of 1st sheet. Signed / sealed Eliz. 170/3 Edgmond - 1834 - Lease for a year (1st part of Lease & Release for conveyance of land) by Japheth Done (Edgmond) and Ann & Thomas Hodgkisson (Colton) to Richard Farmer (Great Haywood, Stowe) of 3 messuages & parcel of land, signed /sealed by Done & the Hodgkissons, witnessed on reverse by Jno. William Gleadowe & Miss Harriett Emily Gleadowe. Refers to Marriage
Sett (1838) of Harriett's parents - Rev Thomas Littlewood Gleadowe (Roughton,
Lincs) & Miss Harriett Anderson (Cambridge); Settlement made by Harriett in
anticipation of her daughter's wedding; the beneficiaries of the M S.

144/3 - 1653 - Sale and Feoffment of Land at Leighton,
Montgomery by Edmond Redge & Mary his wife to Anne Corbett widow of
Edward Corbett. Includes names & acreage of parcels of land & current
occupiers Gilbert ap Evan, Richard Shone, Edward Thomas.
Large sheet parchment approx. 25"x 26", with decorative initial letter.
Small hole towards bottom of document with loss of odd letter from several
words. 2 seal tags 1 of which has large
pendant wax seal still attached. 1 seal tag has the 'mark' "E R" ,
the other has a 'mark' like a reversed letter "R" on its side. 5 witness
signatures on reverse including Thomas Crosse, Thomas Greene,
Thomas Crosse (different writing), James Wooding. [see

144/6 Longnor - 1658 - Lease for 6 months (being first part of Lease /
Release for Sale of Land at Hope, Montgomery) by Richard Poole (Gyngroy? Vawre,
Montgomery) to Anne Corbett (Longnor, Shropshire). Details of land. Also
refers to Richard Corbett.
Sheet parchment approx. 20"x 4+" with decorative initial letter . Small
amount of rodent damage to bottom edge, not affecting text. Signed
by Richard Poole, with
pendant wax seal. Witness signatures on reverse Thomas Greene, James

location of properties, and occupiers.
Paper Indenture signed and sealed by Tho Vernon, witnessed by Thos

Release for Sale of Land) by David Pughe (Stirhhley, Salop) to Howell
Jones (Brythdir, Montgomery). Gives names & acreages of property & lands in
Hope, Montgomery, occupied by Bartholomew ap Oliver, Edward Lawrence &
Piers ap Hugh als Bryn.
Sheet parchment approx. 16"x 7" with small stain in centre fold. Signed
by David Pughe, but seal tag & wax seal missing. 4 witness signatures
on reverse, including Francis Davies, Edw Edwardes, Henry
