135/9 Chirbury1710 – Lease of Mansion House & grounds at Little Durnford, Wilts by exors / trustees [Robert Hyde (Halth), John Gauntlett (Netherhampton) & Thomas Chaffin (Chettle, Dorset)]of late John Young (Little Durnford), who previously occupied it – to Rt Hon Henry Lord Herbert of Cherbury (Chirbury, Salop.). Edward Young party to agreement. Large sheet parchment with very decorative 1st 2 words incorporating Royal Coat of Arms. Signed / sealed 4 wax seals, each with a different impression – Robt. 135/11 Downes alias Dowles1742 – Counterpart of Assignment of Mortgage granted to late Henry Lord Herbert Baron of Chirbury (Chirbury, Salop.) by Richard Knight (Bringewood, Herefordsh) to Elizabeth Bateman (New bond St., Middx). Francis Walter the younger (Forny Hall, Salop) party to agreement as devisee & an executor.  Refers to various mortgages over a period of more than 30 years including mortgage by Herbert to Thomas Baker (Ombersley, Worcs) 1709, assignment & advance by Samuel Slade (Bewdley, Worcs.) 1712, mortgage of further property to Charles Bowles (Southwark, Surrey) 1710, subsequent assignment of those premises to Slade as additional security. Assignment of those mortgages in 1725 by Catherine Slade, Joanna & John Baker (all Waresley, Hartlebury, Worcs) & Alice & George Nash (Martley, Worcs) [Slade’s widow & daughters] to Richard Knight. Several more advances by Knight.  7 large parchment sheets with ornate 1st 2 words incorporating Royal Coat of Arms. Small tear in 1 fold of 1st sheet. Signed / sealed Eliz. 170/3 Edgmond1834 – Lease for a year (1st part of Lease & Release for conveyance of land) by Japheth Done (Edgmond) and Ann &  Thomas Hodgkisson (Colton) to Richard Farmer (Great Haywood, Stowe) of 3 messuages & parcel of land, signed /sealed by Done & the Hodgkissons, witnessed on reverse by Jno. 84/253 Frodesley – 1876 – Marriage Settlement between Rev Richard William Gleadowe & Miss Harriett Emily Gleadowe. Refers to Marriage Sett (1838) of Harriett’s parents – Rev Thomas Littlewood Gleadowe (Roughton, Lincs) & Miss Harriett Anderson (Cambridge); Settlement made by Harriett in anticipation of her daughter’s wedding; the beneficiaries of the M S. 12 page parchment booklet – written on 10 sides with some dusting to cover. Signed / sealed by Harriett E, Richard W & Trustees – Edward Billet Jennings (Burton u Trent, Staffs.) & Thos Smith Gleadowe (Neston, Cheshire). 60/95 Ludlow – 1811 –  Articles of Agreement for sale by George Albot (Seckington?)  to George Whittall (Ludlow) of lands forming part of Bovington Court Farm Estate, Worcs. Brief details of lands, purchase price & completion date. Paper – signed & sealed by Geo Albot & George Whittall. Several small tears where previously folded.   £34

68/22 Oswestry – 1772 – Mortgage of various properties in Oswestry by Thomas Vernon to Ambrose Gilbert (Shrewsbury). Contains details of location of properties, and occupiers. Paper Indenture signed and sealed by Tho Vernon, witnessed by Thos Lawrence. 2 small tears at top and several small holes in folds.  £51

Details of original Leases from Edward Richards Adams with property location & mortgage conditions.  3 large parchment sheets with decorative 1st 2 words incorporating Royal Coat of Arms. Several small holes in folds – with loss of several letters. Signed / sealed by Charles Pawley, witnessed on reverse by William Smith (sol clerk, Westminster Chambers). 144/2 Stirchley – 1628 – Lease for a year (being first part of Lease / Release for Sale of Land) by David Pughe (Stirhhley, Salop) to Howell Jones (Brythdir, Montgomery). Gives names & acreages of property & lands in Hope, Montgomery, occupied by Bartholomew ap Oliver,  Edward Lawrence &  Piers ap Hugh als Bryn. Sheet parchment approx. 16″x 7″ with small stain in centre fold. Signed by David Pughe, but seal tag & wax seal missing. 4 witness signatures on reverse, including  Francis Davies,  Edw Edwardes,  Henry Shipman.   £90

190/33 Tugford – 1777 – Obligation Bond given by Silvanus Jones the elder (Tugford / Shrewsbury) and his sons Silvanus & Thomas Jones (Tugford ) to George Oliver (Cund ? ) refers to Indenture of even date.  Paper written 1 side, ink & embossed duty stamps – signed / sealed by all 3 Jones, witnessed by Thos. Wilkinson & Jno Choley.  £46

Brother in law Rev Edward Dickenson (Rector of St Mary’s Stafford). Refers to Marriage Settlement, properties in Severley (Sarely) & Fulford, details sums spent in placing sons as apprentices, etc – each trade / profession described.  6 sheets paper watermarked 1808, written 5 sides.  £27

211/59 Legge, George – Madely – 1895 Probated copy of Will  -son William John Legge, daughters Elizabeth (w/o William Henry Griffiths), late Mary Ann (w/o Andrew Beacall Dyas), grandchildren William John Dyas, Edith Mary & Annie Elizabeth Dyas, and Annie Elizabeth Griffiths. Servant Lizzie Jones, groom Thomas Timmins. Large number of properties / land, gives location & occupiers. Interest in Brick & Tile Works.  2 large parchment sheets, several company stamps on reverse together with notes of property disposals by Annie Elizabeth Boulton (nee Dyas) during 1940’s to Frances Mary (w/o Harry Halsall of Southport) & C. Sister in law Judith (widow of William Bell of Gillingham, Dorset), their children Catherine & William Read Bell. Other nephews & nieces John Perry (Frysull?), Ann (w/o —- Greenwood of Wyke, Grasmere, Westmoreland), Elizabeth Higgins (Lubstree ? Park, Salop), John Yates (Clerkenwell, Middx, his wife Ann nee Higgins). NB. John Yates (Benthall) named as Exor. Details of land & property in Albrighton – some occupied by Thomas Morris, William Jones,  John Nicholds, Benjamin Thomas, Thomas Hamersley, and in Gillingham – occupied by George Ings, investments & amounts owed by various nephews.
